Tyre was reported to have suffered damage during a major earthquake that struck the Levantine coast. According to Ibn al-Athir, the earthquake damaged several coastal cities, including Sidon, Beirut, Tripoli, Acre, and Tyre, along with numerous Frankish citadels along the coast. A later chronicle by Ibn Taghri Birdi describes the same disaster in stronger terms, stating that Sidon, Beirut, Tripoli, Acre, Tyre, and the Frankish strongholds were ruined.
