Ferrario et al. (2020) report that excavations in 2017 exposed an Umayyad water reservoir at Tiberias whose masonry exhibits steeply inclined fractures between blocks within a ca. 1 m wide fracture zone. This zone lies along the line connecting the graben in the Berniki Theater and the warped Byzantine wall at the Southern Gate, indicating deformation along the same fault trace and consistent with surface rupture during the 749 CE Sabbatical Year Earthquakes.
