Other sources
Guidoboni et. al. (1994) and Brock (1976) mention several other sources which provide commentary on the Cyril Quake. They are
- The Maronite Chronicle - "tells of the destruction of 21 cities"
- Universal History by Agapius of Mabbug (aka Agabus of Hieropolis), (Po 7.4, 581) - "records the destruction of 22 cities."
- Ambrose - "thinks that building work on the Temple in Jerusalem was interrupted by a sudden fire rather than an earthquake."
- John Chrysostom - "thinks that building work on the Temple in Jerusalem was interrupted by a sudden fire rather than an earthquake."
- The History of the Church in Alexandria — "an anonymous and fragmentary work in Coptic which was probably not originally written in Coptic but translated, not earlier than the 5th century, from a similar Greek work, now lost"
- Warburton, W. (1751). Julian. : Or, A discourse concerning the earthquake and fiery eruption, which defeated that emperor's attempt to rebuild the temple at Jerusalem. London, Printed for J. and P. Knapton. - "thoroughly examined all the Greek and Latin historical evidence in order to explain the earthquake as caused by Divine Providence."
- Historia Ecclesiastica by Rufinus - Rufinus wrote an account around 403 CE which Brock (1976) indicates provided small variants in the details of this story.
