R/V Thuwal Core 11 Unit J Turbidite - ~450-~50 BCE (1σ) Open site page in a new tab

Bektaş et al. (2024) identified and interpreted a seismo-turbidite designated Unit J in R/V Thuwal Core 11, which was recovered near the southern terminus of the Aragonese Fault. They assigned an age of ca. 250 BCE to this turbidite. Based on the Probability Density Functions (PDFs) presented in Fig. 8 of their paper, the deposit was most likely emplaced between ~450 and ~50 BCE at the confidence level. Bektaş et al. (2024) suggest that Unit J could be due to two events spaced between 100 and 250 years apart.
