Sbeinati et al. (2010) documented Event Z in negative flower structures exposed in Trenches A, B, and C at the al-Harif displaced aqueduct site, placing it between 960 and 1260 CE. Bayesian modeling of radiocarbon ages narrowed this to 1010–1210 CE. Although analysis of the tufa cores did not further reduce the window, their growth interruptions support a 1010–1210 CE range. Sbeinati et al. (2010) correlated this rupture with the 29 June 1170 CE earthquake and estimated that Events Y and Z together produced ~9.3 m of left- lateral offset at the aqueduct.
