Event QS-13
QS-13 is an
OSL-dated rockfall boulder from the
slopes west of
Qiryat Shemona, below the
Ramim escarpment. The rockfall source was
the 40 m high subvertical cliff of the Ein El
Assad Formation, located about 350 m above the
town.
Kanari et al. (2019) dated QS-13 by sampling
soil or
colluvium from directly beneath the
boulder, constraining the time when the sediment
was last exposed to sunlight prior to burial by
the fallen block. QS-13 produced an age of
3.2 ± 0.4
ka, corresponding to a range of
1600–800 BCE.
Kanari et al. (2019) note that this rockfall could have been due to one of the ~760 BCE
Amos Quakes.
