Event W
Nemer and Meghraoui (2006) report that
Event W in the Jarmaq trench, which intersects the
Roum fault, cuts unit e and
occurred before the deposition of unit d.
Because unit d is not well dated, Event W is
constrained using the nearest dated layers
above (unit c) and below (unit e), indicating
that it occurred between 8555–7603 BCE and
2920–2879 BCE. It predates Event X, which is
similarly constrained within this range.
Unit c was
radiocarbon dated by one
bulk soil sample (JAR-2-B).
Unit e was also radiocarbon dated by one bulk soil sample (JAR-13-B).
The Jarmaq trench as a whole indicates combined
left-lateral strike-slip and
normal motion.
