Braun (2009:71–72) used U-Th dating, combined with three-dimensional isochrons, to identify a seismic event constrained with confidence to between 9110 and 7730 BCE (10.4 ± 0.69 ka). This age estimate is derived from six pre- and post- seismic samples collected from the cave, including two type A speleo-seismites (DN-7 and DN-17). The resulting age is considered robust because it is based on 11 dated samples, including four DN-7 post- seismic samples interpreted as coeval and two DN-9 pre-seismic samples likewise interpreted as coeval.
