Niemi (2011:153) reports that a radiocarbon-dated charcoal sample from Trench T-1 constrains the most recent rupture to after 1045–1278 CE, likely corresponding to one of the historically recorded earthquakes affecting southern Jordan (e.g., 1068 CE, 1212 CE, 1458 CE, 1588 CE).
