In reviewing the later occupational history of the Temple of the Winged Lions and its surrounding quarters, Jones (2021) drew attention to the absence of securely dated 6th-century material at both the temple and the nearby residential complex in Area I. As summarized from Erickson-Gini and Tuttle (2017:144-145), this lack of material may not indicate survival into the later 6th century, but rather suggests that the area was already abandoned before a subsequent late-6th-century destructive event occurred.
