Canceled Row Earthquake (?) Open site page in a new tab

Cytryn-Silverman (2015:208) suggests that a renovation of the Umayyad mosque at Tiberias took place in the early eleventh century, possibly after the 1033/4 CE earthquakes. During this renovation the additional row of columns that had earlier been installed apparently to reinforce the roof in the 8th century CE was removed, restoring the interior layout and monumentality of the original Umayyad design.
