Herr et al. (1999:103) reported that Stratum 9 contained "a layer of debris that overlay the Phase 10 destruction ash and contained early Iron II pottery." Raphael and Agnon (2018:776) classified this destruction layer as an Iron IIA (1000–900 BCE) earthquake, citing Herr et al. (1999:100–103, 106).
