Phase 9 Collapse Open this page in a new tab

In the Tel Aviv – Heidelberg Joint Project Report for the 2006 and 2007 seasons at Ramat Rahel, a major collapse is reported in Area D1. A massive stone collapse covered the floors of several architectural units, and numerous broken pottery vessels were found within the debris. Based on ceramic evidence, the collapse is dated to the late Abbasid or early Fatimid period, likely corresponding to roughly 850–1050 CE. Attribution of this collapse to an earthquake is not explicitly identified in the report.
