Stratum III Earthquake Open site page in a new tab

Marco et al. (2006) reported a tilted pillar, a tilted and partially collapsed wall, and a folded wall in Stratum III. They noted that it was "probable but not sure" that these deformations were caused by seismic activity. The Stratum III structures provided a terminus post quem of approximately 700 BCE, but it was not possible to establish a secure terminus ante quem. In addition, no photographs were provided that would allow independent assessment of the evidence. They further suggested that fractured walls in Silo 4004 may have been caused by either the Stratum IVA or Stratum III earthquake.
