Magness (2010:147–153) reanalyzed the archaeological evidence from the original excavations of Mazar and Ben-Dov, together with later work by Ronny Reich, Yaakov Billig, and Yuval Baruch. She concluded that the structures were repaired and reoccupied following the mid-8th-century Sabbatical Year Quakes and remained in use until the 11th-century Palestine Quake(s) of 1033/4 CE. In her revised chronology, the seismic damage observed by Ben-Dov in Building II—cracked walls, warped foundations, fallen columns, and sunken floors—may stem from the 1033/4 CE earthquake(s) rather than from one of the earlier 8th-century Sabbatical Year events.
