Sultan IIIc1 Destruction - EB IIIA Open site page in a new tab

Nigro (2014:75) reports that around 2500 BCE, the EB IIIA (Sultan IIIc1) city suffered a sudden and intense destruction. In Area B and B-West, the double fortification wall and the South Gate were burned, and roofs supported by tamarisk beams collapsed. The pattern of damage, concentrated along the city-wall perimeter rather than within the interior, strongly suggests a military attack; however, not all interior areas have beeen excavated.
