Uscatescu and Marot (2000:283) used pottery and coins from a sealed, undisturbed, and securely stratified destruction layer to produce a terminus ante quem betweeen 675 and 700 CE for the seismic destruction of the macellum. Pottery and coins were previously published in Marot (1998), Uscatescu (1995), and Uscatescu (1996). After the earthquake, exedra 4 was removed, replaced by vaulted Islamic galleries.
