Pre-Monastic Phase IV Destruction Event Open site page in a new tab

Fiema and Frösén (2008, Appendix C:34) reported evidence in Room 25 of an “early destruction,” followed by a period of decay prior to the construction of the monastery at Jabal Harun. The archaeoseismic evidence included a “shattered second story floor (O.41),” parts of which were “protruding from Wall G.” They further suggested that the core of the western building partially collapsed and that the second-story floor was entirely destroyed, with remains of that floor “incorporated in the Byzantine structures.” Finally, they proposed that the “superstructure and arches of the southern cistern (Room 36) may also have collapsed.”
