Phase C Earthquake - Iron IB Open site page in a new tab
Franken (1969:41) states that “the end of phase C is marked by an earthquake,” noting a wide and deep crack in this phase which contains, in Square 400, “the scattered remains of a human skeleton,” apparently squashed by the shock. Ferry et al. (2011), citing Franken (1989:203), dated this earthquake to the 12th century BCE (“1200–1100 B.C.”). Since Phase C follows Phase B, and the Phase B earthquake has been placed in the second half of the 12th century BCE, the Phase C earthquake should fall within the same range.
