Ibn al-Adim (aka Kemal ad-Din) Sources
Gibb (1932:11) noted that although
Ibn al-Adim (aka Kemal ad-Din)
occasionally
quotes Ibn al-Qalanisi verbatim
, he
based his narrative on independent local sources.
Gibb (1932:11 note 2) writes that
Kemal ad-Din's contemporary authority for the history of the early
Crusades was probably The History of the Franks who came forth to the Land of Islam"
(Siratu'l-Ifranji'l-Kharijina'ila biladi'l-'islami) of
Hamdan b. 'Abd al-Rahim of al-Atharib, d. 1159 (referred to by Ibn Muyassar, Annales d'Egypte, ed. H. Masse (Cairo, 1919), p. 70, 6-7).
