Neophytos was a Cypriot Orthodox monk and chronicler active in Jerusalem during the first half of the 19th century. He arrived in Jerusalem from Cyprus in 1801 and was still writing as of 1846. His writings, preserved in Greek manuscripts from monastic libraries such as Mar Saba, Mount Sinai, Mount Athos, and the Phanar, offer valuable insights into the religious and social life of the time. He spoke Arabic in addition to Greek.
