Nasir i-Khusrau was a Persian poet, philosopher, Isma'ili scholar, traveler and one of the greatest writers in Persian literature. Until A.H. 437 (1046 AD), he worked as a financial secretary and revenue collector for the Seljuk sultan Toghrul Beg, or rather for his brother Jaghir Beg, the emir of Khorasan. The Book of Travels (Safarnama) was an account of his travels written in the 11th century.
