The Anonymous Itinerarium (erroneously) attributed to Antoninus of Piacenza, written in Latin by an anonymous author, describes a journey taken in the 6th century CE. Guidoboni et al (1994) date the composition of this text to ~560-570 CE. Ambraseys (2009) suggested that the writer must have visited the area after AD 565, since he refers to an earthquake 'in the time of Justinian [r. 527-565 CE)'.
