An earthquake is reported to have struck during the night. At Tiberias a rockslide and/or landslide occurred, causing numerous fatalities. Ambraseys (2009) places the event within the interval 850–854 CE, while Guidoboni et al. (1994) date it to A.H. 239 (12 June 853 – 1 June 854 CE), corresponding to the year reported by as‑Suyūṭī.
