Deformed Layers at ZA1
Observed prior to 2001 by Revital Bookman (nee Ken-Tor) and Jefferson Williams
- Source and Links
- Depths, Thicknesses, Age Estimates, and Deformation Type
- Exact depths and thicknesses of seismites are not reported in Ken-Tor et al (2001a)
- Thickneses come from Table 1 of Williams (2004).
- Williams (2004) measured some seismite thicknesses in the field at the outcrop he was shown by Revital Bookman while she was doing her field work and
estimated other seismite thicknesses from the lithosection in Figure 2 of Ken-Tor et al (2001a)
- Ken-Tor et al (2001a) measured depths from the base of the gully floor. Top Depths presented are calculated by Jefferson Williams
- Estimates of Ken-Tor et al's (2001a) "bottom up" depths are also presented
- Age Estimates (Calibrated Ages) for the seismites come from Table 2 of Ken-Tor et al (2001a)
- Quake date assignments reflect conclusions of Jefferson Williams - see Notes column for explanations
- Location
- Exact location(s) are not reported in Ken-Tor et al (2001a).
- Kagan et al (2011) designate the site of Bookman's outcrop work as ZA-1 and state that this is ~100 m landward of ZA-2
- Revital Bookman worked in several different gullies in Nahal Ze 'elim. The lithosection presented in Figure 2 is described as a composite section
- The site ZA-1 shown in the Google Earth link is a site she worked but apparently after her 2001 papers were published
- Column Explanations
- Top depth is gully depth below Fan Delta surface
- Deformation Type (Wetz10) as defined by Wetzler et al (2010) :
1 - Linear Waves
2 - Asymmetric Billows
3 - Coherent Vortices
4 - Brecciated
- Intensity Estimates (Iest) are based on Deformation Type (Wetz10) and the following transforms:
