JW notes:
- M (140 cm.) and N(137 cm.) were sampled together.
- During the extraction, M and N split into two parts A and B
- Due to time constraints in the field (last day) could not investigate which was the top piece
- Examination of the lidar scans and photos shows that part B is the bottom piece and part A is the top piece
- Note that photos and lidar scans of extracted part B are upside down - i.e. the uphole part of the extracted sample is resting on the board at the bottom
- There are no field photos of extracted part A - it was wrapped up to preserve its integrity
- Hard sediments but fragile capable of parting in horiz planes and vertical fractured and salt exsolution planes
- Some pieces may need paraffin or other type of stabilization - experiment on a small piece first
Lidar Scans of Piece MN - Parts A (top) and B (bottom)
Field Photos of extracted part B (bottom piece - photographed upside down)
