Michael the Syrian wrote that "a strong wind blew through the air, the earth shook, the stones of the
old foundations arose, and a fire came down from the sky and devoured the levers, axes and all tools of the trade"
to be used in the Temple rebuilding projects. He also wrote that on the following night a "miracle" occurred whereby
"radiant images of the cross seemed fixed on all their [the Jews] clothes". He goes on to say that they tried to wash
the images out on the following daya but were unsuccessful. Michael states that these cross images appeared on the clothing
of Jews, Pagans, and Christians in both Jerusalem and Antioch and its environs. He goes even further stating that
"the cross, adorned with a crown of light, appeared from Golgotha to the Mount of Olives."
