Ibn 'Abd al-Zahir (1233-1293 CE) lived and died in Cairo, was a secretary to the Mamluk sultans Baybars and Qalawun, and wrote their biographies ( Guidoboni and Comastri, 2005). His biography of Sultan Qalawun is titled Enobling the days and epochs with regard to the life of al-Malik al-Manṣūr (Tashrīf al-ayyām wa-l-`uṣūr fi sīrat al-malik al-Manṣūr).
