Ibn al-Athir
reports that in Jumada II
A.H. 508 (2–30 November 1114 CE),
there was a violent earthquake in the regions of
Gazira and Syria, as well as other regions, during which
Ruha,
Harran,
Sumaysat (= Samsat),
Balis,
and other towns were largely destroyed, and many people
died in the ruins.
